Arthur Blyakher and Paul J. Edelstein secured a $40 million verdict for the estate of a toddler who was horrifically abused before dying of his injuries. The case and the publicity it received shined a light on the deficiencies at the New York City Administration of Children’s Services, hopefully making it less likely that this ever happens to another child again.

A construction worker who was stuck by a utility pole while working on a sewer construction project resulting in paralysis received a settlement of $36 million. This is believed to be the largest reported personal injury settlement in the State of New York ever.

A motorcycle was sideswiped by a dump truck that was attempting to pass on a single lane road, resulting in injuries to the motorcycle’s driver as well as his passenger. Edelsteins, Faegenburg and Brown negotiated a settlement of $3.25 million.

The defendants had never offered more than $650,000 prior to trial, but that changed once the trial began when the defendant herself was present in the Courtroom for opening statements. However, after witnessing those proceedings, she was reluctant (or possibly refused) to testify on behalf of herself and the defense.

In a case that lasted twelve years in New York Supreme Court, we appeared at trial pro bono (at no charge) for a client who was sued in a commercial contract case along with his former company. At trial the Plaintiff was awarded a judgment of $1,060,46.96 against the co-defendant corporation and was dismissed against our client in entirety.
